Also known as the Spring Festival, this year, Chinese New Year - The Year of the Monkey - begins on February 8th and lasts until Jan 27th, 2017. The festivities usually start the day before the New Year and continue until the Lantern Festival, the 15th day of the new year.
This is a time to wish for peace and happiness. Gong Hey Fat Choy means "wishing you to be prosperous in the coming year."Chinese New Year officially falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. From late January to mid-February, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and other countries celebrate Lunar New Year.
